A Manager or Leader?

     We had an amazing class last Wednesday with our professor. The main reason why I am saying this is that I love tests very much, especially the ones that determine my personality. That day we conducted leadership/management diagnostic test, which reflected our personality. I turned out to be a Cd type, which means I am better in management than  in leadership.
     The C type people:

  • pay attention to key directives and standards;
  • concentrate on key details;
  • think analytically,weighing pros and cons;
  • are diplomatic with people;
  • use subtle or indirect approaches to conflict;
  • check for accuracy;
  • analyse performance critically;
  • use a systematic approach to situations or activities.
     The D type people:

  • get immediate results;
  • cause action;
  • accept challenges;
  • make quick decisions;
  • question the status quo;
  • take authority;
  • manage trouble;
  • solve problems.
     The test got the right result: I am Cd type (conscientiousness-dominance) and my conscientiousness prevails my dominance. My friends and even my boss and my coworkers say that this type of personality exactly reflects me. I do not want to be another type because I love being myself. However, I have some characteristics from another types. For example, I am a good listener and can come down excited people, which characterize Steadiness type.
     I think it is very helpful to determine people's management "type" to better understand where they are coming from, what type of personality they are. In addition,  it helps to communicate and interact with them in every day's life. This  test is really helpful for me, and I think for everybody else.Thanks professor for  a great test and an amazing time .

  1. I think its very important to know the person's trait, personality before you do anything with them. Wouldn't it be great if we use it to determine who we spend the rest of our ives with?

  2. I think so, in some degree, however you can not rely for sure on this test to build your family and relationship.

  3. i agree with you when you say this was a very fun and enjoyable test. I think everyone was pretty amazed on how accurate it was. I also agree on the fact that this may be extremely useful outside of just class.

  4. During the DISC test, I saw that my paper had lots of 'W's. I got the feeling that I knew what was coming for me - and it turned out that the Ws were representing the 'C' personality types! I'm sure you thought the same thing during the test!
    I too, like the way that I am. Yet sometimes I try to step in the direction of the Influencial type. I see it as balancing out my personality rather than trying to become a completely different type. Glad to see that you enjoyed the test as well!

  5. I think being you are a Cd reflects that you are a good manager in the making. Any manager I believe needs to have stronger analytical skills ( c personality) than leadership/take action skills( d personality). Managing people involves making sure a set group follows an already established set of rules. It is important to be very analytical so that leading that set group is in-line with already established rules or other rules to come.

  6. Definitely a Cd is a good combination. Making sure everything is done right and at the same time being able to lead on those same principles. Hopefully this will lead you to pursue a great managerial career.

  7. You and I took a trip to Canada, our plane crashed, then you wanted to take a pistol to shoot the bears?!...now looking back at our group activity where we had to survive, I definitely see your C and d type. Your analytical approach, yet quick decision making and your ability to reason demonstrate that. I am a C type as well, which is nothing new for me, but the test put it in a different perspective, allowing to look at ourselves from managerial/leadership angle. Being diplomatic is our strength and I like that about myself. Diplomatic persuasion can be achieved if someone has both C and D in them, which you do!!!!
