Communicating via Blog.

I have never had any Blog before I took MGT class this fall and I was really excited when we were asked by our professor to create one. I enjoyed the Blog and posting my assignment online. I think it has been an interesting, unique and effective way not only to get value from this class but for many other reasons.
First, the Blog was very effective as a communication tool for the students, some kind of connection between us even outside of the class. We were pushed by the professor to read our classmates’ Blogs and post comments on their wall. Exchanging our ideas and thoughts was a perfect way to learn about and from each other. As we know most of the students and me who take evening classes work full time and we do not have enough time to communicate with each other and, as a result, the Blog was our way to interact.
Second, the Blog improved our writing skills. To put our thoughts on the Blog is the best way to express ourselves and learn how to organize our ideas.
Third, the Blog developed our critical thinking. It effectively got us to think about and share our perceptions, thoughts and opinions about our class activity or real life issues.

Fourth, the best part of the Blog is the opportunity to control and manage 20%   of our final grade.
Most of all on the Blog I enjoyed the outside reading, the extra credit assignment “The Trip to McDonalds’ Restaurant”. This was a real life management experience. Honestly, I think that there was not enough of this kind of outside reading and, definitely professor should take this into consideration for the future. I mean not getting more extra credit assignment but more outside class activity which deals with a real life experience.
In conclusion, I wanted to say that I enjoyed posting my thoughts  on my own and on my classmates’ Blogs and I do plan to continue to post my thoughts and ideas online even after my MGT class is over.

  1. I think the blog posting assignment turned out to be quite a unique experience. At school in Belarus the writing tone had to be very formal and proper. You weren’t able to express your attitude or feelings towards assigned topics. I admit at first it was quite difficult for me to figure out the tone of my postings, to make it more personable. So I think the blog assignments actually helped me to write in a different way than I was used to.

  2. Hello,

I like your Seek-Sense-Share image! That's a good choice for our blog assignment about blogging.

I, like you, had never blogged before this class. I agree that it was a unique and interesting tool in our class. It really was a good way to learn from each other, and to connect outside of class. In such a big class, it's hard to communicate with everyone before and after class sessions, so communicating via the blog helped us in getting to know more of our classmates.

Writing the blog was sometimes challenging, in a good way, where we learned and improved by it. We analyzed our class experiences and assignments, and processed them several times during the writing process. We really did learn to better organize our ideas in writing and to develop critical thinking, like you wrote too.
I enjoyed the blogs as well, and also plan on continuing with blogging even after our class is over.

  3. That's the beauty of blogging. Everyone can just be themselves and write about anything without having to worry about any formalities, whatsoever. The professor has taught us how to manage our time effectively by letting us work on deadlines (which works for me all the time because I tend to slack off... hehe!). I really dislike writing, but blogging is an exception for me :) It was great to read your blog posts Larisa! I wish you good luck in all your future endeavors!
